- In March of 1991, about to embark on their first tour, Sublime is forced to put their shows on hold when Bud Gaugh went into rehab in order to kick his drug habit. Sublime performs at Toe Jam in Long Beach. The show is entitled "Sublime's Final Gig".
- In the fall Bradley Nowell's father loans him $1000 and the recordings for 40oz. To Freedom begins. Though Michael Happoldt recounts that the money was raised to make the recordings "by any means necessary". By this time, Marshall 'Ras MG' Goodman has stepped in on drums.
