Fern's Long Beach, CA
  • Shooting of the "Date Rape" video.
  • This is the "live" recording of video for Date Rape. It was shot inside of Fern's Dive Bar in front of the keg fridge. Fern's is not an actual venue, just a bar. Brad was completely hammered, and Eric has no strings on his bass guitar. -Greg A.
  • "The Date Rape "live shot" was shot only the 1 day and the story line part was shot 2 weeks later because Louie bit Z-man, the videos main actor, on the lip at Ferns which prevented him from shooting til it healed. Todd was wearing a wig and was ducking under a roped off area and Louie just jumped up and bit him. I actually have it captured on video, the bite happening.

"That little asshole required me to get 30+ stitches in my mouth by a plastic surgeon in Long Beach...day 1 of the "Date Rape" Video...after a very long night Brad and I had after Sublime played the Troubadour in LA. I still have the microcassette of he and I playing the organ and him singing...good stuff...Louie was just cranky that day.

"It was the morning of the "Date Rape" Video and both Brad & I had about 34 seconds of sleep each, maybe 35. Still out of my mind we roll to this shithole bar "Fern's" where the band shot of the video took place. I had this afro wig on and Brad and I weren't wating in the buffet line to score some bad food.

So, with wig still on I went underneath this roped off area and must have scared the shit out of Louie. No greeting, no warning from that spotted little criminal, he just rolled up and bit my grill. It was a total scene, blood everywhere. It wasn't a good day.As far as the tape goes, some things are just too personal with all due respect. As loaded as we were, it went beyond singing and into some deep stuff conversationally speaking that was heavy...for both of us." -Todd Zawkins
