I had never even HEARD of Sublime before we played with 'em. Never saw them again, although I can say they certainly were the real thing. I've played with thousands of bands over the years, never seemed to matter whether a band was big or small. The attitudes could be bad either way. You can always tell the ones who don't do it for the music, always spot the fakers. The guys who came up from cover bands and made it... the douches who made it through a "showcase" deal and never worked for it a fucking day of their lives. Notes:

I saw Sublime play on the 1st Warped Tour back in 95. I wasn't recording shows back then.

I went to the show in Boulder Colorado on the campus. It was in a big open space. Ebbets Field maybe.
L7 was supposed to headline but they bailed for some reason. I wasn't familiar with Sublime at that point. It was right after this that I started hearing buzz about them.

They played the main stage but didn't have a very big crowd. They would start a song and then get lost and just abandon it and move on (they were so wasted). People started walking away and someone in Sublime took the mic and called them pussies, or some other slur, and said that they were the show, not the other band that was playing on the 2nd stage. My friend and I just sat on the grass and watched the whole train wreck.

I'm pretty sure it was right after this that Kevin Lyman that runs the Warped Tour threatened to kick them off the tour for a week and told them to get their shit together.

I was there mainly to see Quicksand and L7. It was right around the time nu metal was taking off and I know that the Deftones played and I think Limp Bizkit might have been on the bill as well.
Two different recordings of this show exist: a video that is in common circulation and audio which so far has not surfaced. Most of the songs on the video are unfortunately more or less incomplete because the person who filmed the show was switching the camera on and off all the time due to saving battery so that he could at least get "Date Rape" on tape.
The audio from the bootleg was ripped from a personal video camera recording made by an audience member. This show is unique in that Sublime tried out a lot of new songs which would later be recorded for the self titled album and are not found on many other bootlegs. A soundboard recording also exists. The soundboard audio was available as an online realaudio webcast at http://www.hob.com but only the songs from "Pawn Shop" to "New Trash" of the webcast are currently available on an older bootleg that was being traded until the video of the full show surfaced. KRS-ONE from the soundboard audio is on Stand By your Van album.
This show was recorded to DAT with stereo mics by Melinda B. T. It is often mislabeled as "live at Canes" due to a mistake regarding the venue on a cd-r artwork Biff made for it.

A recording of the first three tracks of this show exists. The reason why it is so short is that the person who recorded it was there only to see the opening band and quit recording so soon after the beginning of the show since he didn't like Sublime that much. A complete recording is not known to exist. The credit of discovering this recording goes to Orion S.
