Hardback Cafe (232 SE 1st St., 372-6248). The Hardback is a small building located next to the Hippodrome State Theater in Gainesville (the Hippodrome is whitish and round and big) and is the host for a lot of local DIY-ing punk and hardcore acts, etc. They have ska shows occasionally as well. The Hardback holds shows most nights during the week, and admission is usually 2-3 dollars. The room inside is small but feels really homey and the atmosphere can be a lot of fun. And for a bit of trivia, it's the same Hardback mentioned at the end of Sublime's 1992 album, 40 oz. to Freedom.
